Original Legal Documents Required:

  • Valid Passport
  • Birth Certificate (if name change)
  • Proof of Marital Status (original or notarised copy of Decree Absolue required if one or both parties is divorced)
  • Death Certificate if previous spouse is deceased
  • Proof of name change if either party has name changed by deed poll or adoption
  • Birth certificate or notarised affidavit of parental consent (one or both parents) is required for parties under the age of 18
  • Church weddings require proof of membership
  • Marriage must be solemnised by a Certified Marriage Officer

Original documents including passports must be taken to the hotel. Documents in any language other than English must be translated into an English document, signed and stamped by a solicitor verifying the translation is a true representation of the original.

Ceremonies are conducted by a state of Antigua and Barbuda appointed marriage officer, one who is legally recognised on the island.

Ceremonies may be performed after one working day, Monday through Saturday between 10am-5pm, subject to availability and excluding public holidays.

Catholic wedding ceremonies must be held in a church.

Marriage in a Commonwealth Country denotes the only record of the wedding outside of Antigua is the marriage certificate, completed and given to the couple following the ceremony. If the original document is lost, a certified copy may be obtained from the registrar in Antigua.
