The House by Elegant Hotels, a chic adults-only boutique hotel on the island’s West Coast, underwent extensive renovations to modernize its current ocean-inspired design. Recently re-opened the resort has freshened up its' common spaces, all while maintaining its signature home-away-from-home feel.
Situated on the platinum west coast of Barbados, The House by Elegant Hotels is known for its luxurious all-suite accommodations, relaxed beach house feel, highly attentive service ambassadors and lavish amenities, ranging from champagne breakfasts to poolside jetlag revival massages. This upcoming improvement marks an exciting time for The House and Elegant Hotels Group, as the company is committed to investing in its existing properties, as well as expanding its current portfolio.
The charming hotel is reminiscent of a fabled castle with its terraced brick walls and arched wooden doorways, illuminated by the soft glow of tiki torches. Upon entering The House, guests are greeted with stunning views of the west coast peeking through the palms in the open-air courtyard. In an effort to create a greater sense of arrival, the outdoor space will be outfitted with lush landscaping, relaxing water features and a small yoga pavilion to foster a sense of relaxation.
Beyond the courtyard, the open-air oceanfront living room lounge area will get a complete redesign with a new layout, furnishings, artwork and lighting. As the pulse of the hotel, and the gathering area for breakfast, afternoon canapés and sunset cocktails, the space will retain its chic colour palette of sophisticated white fabrics, but will be complimented by ocean-inspired accents, including pale walnut and teak wood tones.
Champagne breakfasts set the stage for luxury while themed dinners are a lavish affair designed to bring guests together and create camaraderie among travellers. The current dining area will receive a complete overhaul with new furnishings and a sophisticated buffet area that will disappear behind decorative screens that slide to maintain the breezy, living room atmosphere. Additionally, the newly designed space will include updated, modern furnishings, wood or stone floors, enhanced light fixtures, and complimentary colour accents.
The House, with its lack of a formal check-in desk or official lobby, prides itself on creating an island-style laid-back experience for guests to enjoy the stunning sunset views and mingle with friends and other guests in what feels like the comfort of their own home. To facilitate this, the existing bar will be re-orientated so guests can enjoy the iconic sunsets for which Barbados’ west coast is known. Now, after a long day of soaking up the sun, guests will be invited to enjoy a rum punch at the new upper deck bar while gazing at unbeatable views of the Caribbean Sea. For milder evenings, an overhead canopy will protect guests from the elements so they can enjoy the breath-taking landscape all-year round.
The complimentary 30-minute jetlag massage, offered as a way for guests to unwind after their travels, is one of The House’s signature amenities. In the spirit of encouraging guests to disconnect and indulge, the existing gym and library will be converted into a spa, complete with two private treatment rooms, including a couples massage room, where guests can rejuvenate with a selection of massages, facials and beauty services, including manicures and pedicures. The new gym has been relocated in a nearby area.
Lastly, the existing pool area has been refurbished with new decking, creating an ideal spot for couples and guests to gather beneath the stars with a Daphne’s dessert or Mount Gay nightcap.
